Today, as we observe Good Friday, we come face to face with the public execution of Jesus, the Son of God.  The justice of God was satisfied at Calvary where the Creator paid the price for the sins of His creatures.  When we are tempted to blame the Romans, the religious leadership of Israel or Israel itself, we must recognize that the real culprit behind the crucifixion is the one we see in the mirror--you and me.  Our sins led to His suffering.  Our shame brought about His stripes.  Our guilt led to His passion on the cross.  There is no one righteous--no not one.  Not you.  Not me.  He paid a price that He did not owe for folks like us who owed a price we could not pay.  This day is a somber day.  We gaze deeply into the depths of our sinfulness, disobedience, defiance and rebellion.  We know Jesus died on the cross for us because we surely had it coming and surely deserved whatever wrath that God would have chosen to unleash upon us.  I am a sinner.  I have disobeyed the One who made me.  I have chosen my ways above His.  I am guilty as charged!  How about you!
