“God used it for good.” That five-word statement has been spoken by many Christians through the years. God is good. And God acts in ways that are good. He never acts contrary to good ways. Near the end of Genesis, Joseph reflected back on his life and experiences with his brothers and the hostility they felt toward him. When he thought of his time in Egypt, in prison, in captivity and away from his family, Joseph confidently wrote, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives” (Genesis 50:20).
Even today, God can use what others mean for evil or harm to be a blessing for us. He can rework and rewrite the wickedness or sinful intentions of others into something good for us and glorious for Him. Never underestimate God’s goodness or power. He is always good, faithful and gracious. Indeed, He is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than all we could ask or imagine. Today, trust your circumstances to His power. Trust your outlook to His plans for you. Lean on Him in times of adversity or uncertainty. When your way may not be clear, trust God to be your way-maker!
Where can you recall that God has used something for good in your life? Trust Him to continue to do the same as you lean on Him. Remind yourself today that you can trust His goodness, love and grace. They are never in short supply. They never run out. They never fail to arrive on time. “God used it for good” is more than a sentence. It is a way of life. Let it be your way too! Have a great Monday!
